How can a futon utilise your space?
If you don’t have a huge amount of room in your home for sofas and spare beds, a futon is a fantastic way to really make the most of your available space.
Futons are a sofa & a bed
The word futon originates from Japan and means, quite simply, ‘bed’. It is traditionally filled with cotton to a thickness of approximately three inches and can be quite firm. Nowadays, in the UK, a futon is a really useful piece of household furniture because not only is it a sofa where you can curl up with a good book or gather around the TV to watch a film, but it also doubles up as a bed. Less bulky and easier to use than the usual sofa sleepers, futons are the perfect solution for those with a small bedroom or who don’t have enough space for a permanent guest bed.
Choose from a variety of styles
Just like an ordinary sofa or bed, futons come in a variety of styles and sizes so you can pick one that will fit with your home. At Carpet Barn, you can choose from a wooden, metal or upholstered frame, a single or double bed, fabric or faux leather material, and a whole host of different colours - we’re confident you’ll find the right style to suit you.
One of our most popular futons is the stylish Logan Sofa Bed which features a sturdy wooden frame, a comfy PU foam cushion and beautiful, soft fabric. The Logan also boasts removable arm rest cushions to ensure your comfort whether you’re using it as a sofa or as a bed. If you’re looking for a smaller option, why not consider the versatile Madrid Sofabed? Great for restricted spaces or storing out of the way in a cupboard, its single mattress comes in a choice of over 50 fabrics and colours and it has wheels for easy set up and manoeuvring. Before you buy a futon, ensure you measure your space accurately and remember to consider not only how big the futon is when it’s a sofa, but also when it’s made up as a bed.
