Who could qualify for VAT relief?

Do all adjustable beds qualify?
No. One of the most important points to understand is that simply being adjustable does not automatically make a bed eligible for VAT relief.
HMRC states that a qualifying adjustable bed must clearly be specialised for use by people with disabilities and have features that distinguish it from an ordinary adjustable bed.
Depending on the bed, these may include specialist features designed to assist with movement, transfers, positioning, safety or comfort.
This means eligibility will depend on the specific adjustable bed model and specification you choose, as well as your own circumstances.
How does VAT relief work?
Where the relevant conditions are met, the supplier can apply the zero rate of VAT when you purchase your qualifying bed.
You will normally be asked to provide information confirming that you meet the eligibility requirements. The retailer can explain what information or declaration is required before your purchase is completed.
